What is a breast milk ring?
Breast milk rings are made with stones created from your actual breast milk. The ring symbolizes the feeding journey you went through with your baby.
Do I have to have my own breast milk?
No! At MAMA + BEAR we know every mama and baby’s feeding journey is unique. So, we honor you for your path! That’s why we accept breast milk, but we also create milk stones from donor milk, formula, and milk substitutes.
How are milk stones made?
We created a 5-day all natural process to turn your milk into stone. The process includes naturally dehydrating, preserving, and hand-crushing your milk into a fine powder. Followed by encapsulating the milk in an acrylic jewelry grade epoxy.
How do I get my milk to MAMA + BEAR?
When you complete your order and checkout, MAMA + BEAR will send you a Breast Milk Collection kit, as part of your order.
How do I know it’s my breast milk?
I’m a breastfeeding mom! So, I know how important this little keepsake piece will be for your mama heart. At MAMA + BEAR we label your milk the moment your kit is opened and it’s carefully tracked throughout the whole process.
How do you get donor milk?
At MAMA + BEAR we are lucky to have mamas that have given a breast milk love donation. These donations are used for mamas that were unable to produce, ran short on their own supply, for the mamas that breastfed years ago and didn’t save, and mamas that simply don’t have any to provide for any reason.
How much milk do you need?
One tablespoon of milk is all we need.
Can I use old milk?
Yes! Milk rings are not for consumption; therefore, it’s completely safe to send us “old” or expired milk.
Why sterling silver?
MAMA + BEAR milk rings are made with 925 sterling silver. We don’t offer plated rings (e.g. gold plated, rose gold plated). In my experience, I bought a rose gold plated ring and the color wore off in 3 weeks. 925 sterling silver is made of 92.5% silver and copper. This makes your ring strong and durable, and a lot easier on your bank account than solid gold.
Will my ring tarnish?
Pure silver is not susceptible to tarnish in a pure oxygen environment. However, the copper that is contained in 925 sterling silver may react to the ozone and hydrogen sulfide in the air and cause sterling silver to tarnish over time. Perfumes, hair sprays, body washes, bath bombs, soaps, lotions, and even sweat can cause an early formation of tarnish.
Do you offer refunds?
Unfortunately, no. Each piece is made custom. So, we are unable to restock your item. However, if your stone fails in anyway, we can replace your stone.
